French Ambassador Visits New Nigerian Pharmaceutical Production Unit
The French Ambassador to Nigeria, Monsieur Phillipe Pelter, recently paid a courtesy visit to the pharmaceutical manufacturing plant where the Benylin® range is being produced under license from Parke-Davis.

Tabletting Plant
The addition of a second GLATT Fluid Bed Granulator/Drier with supporting dust-proof product screening devices and a GMP compliant container mixer has increased NGC’s tablet production capacity to 1 billion tablets per annum.

Liquid Plant
The ultra modern liquid plant meets current international Good Manufacturing Standards. It was commissioned at Otta in April 1999 and has capacity to produce 10 million bottles per annum.

Quality Control
The liquid line installation included a well equipped state-of-the-art Microbiology Laboratory which meets all current International Standards. The equipment includes a Waters Millennium HPLC with Photo Iodide Array Detector, Stability Chamber, Furnaces and various environmental monitoring devices.

Laboratory Services
In addition to ensuring quality control, NGC laboratory undertakes a variety of services on behalf of its principals:

· Product development, especially customisation to meet local regulatory requirements;
· Contract Analysis (Microbiology, Chemical and Stability monitoring);
· Consulting services in areas of Dossier and Drug registration.

Manufacturing
Apart from manufacturing its own brands, NGC also manufactures and markets various products under license from:

Contract Manufacturing

Ambassador Inspects Warehousing and Distribution Facilities
The Ambassador rounded up his tour with a visit to the pharmaceutical warehouse and distribution centre adjoining the Otta pharma plant.

Praise from French Ambassador
After the tour of the factory and distribution centre, the Ambassador met with the management to discuss business and areas of collaboration. The Ambassador praised the company for the standards being maintained in the factory, which he said were equal to anything in other parts of the world.
