A BRIEF
HISTORY OF OUR FORTY YEARS
The Company was formed in 1964 under the name
"Hoechst Products Nigeria Limited" to market
pharmaceuticals and industrial chemicals.
Following a period of sustained growth,
the Company started manufacturing activities in 1971. The
Company became officially quoted on the Nigerian Stock
Exchange in 1979 as Nigerian Hoechst PLC.
In 1995, Hoechst AG divested its shares in
the company in line with a world wide strategy to
restructure its business. Consequently, the name of the
Company changed to Nigerian-German Chemicals PLC.
The Company has collaborations with some
companies like Pfizer Consumer Healthcare, Jeyes
International, Solvay Pharma, Clariant Oil Services and
Kunming Pharmaceutical Corporation and is a major player
in the pharmaceutical, consumer healthcare products,
bottled water and oil field chemicals industries.
The Company's turnover crossed the billion
Naira mark for the first time in 1997 and its issued share
capital at present is N76.8m.
